The Department of Biology in the Faculty of Sciences, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research and The Arts Baden Württemberg and the University Council, seeks to fill this tenure track position by April 1, 2021. The University will provide a full professorship after positive evaluation of the candidate in 2026.

We are interested in an early career researcher with broad expertise in Behavioral and Computational Neurobiology, preferably with an organismal approach in studying general principles of behavior and decision making. The ideal candidate will complement our research focus in Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour at the University of Konstanz with an original research program and he/she is expected to contribute and integrate into our joined research initiatives (for example EXC CB, https://www.exc.uni-konstanz.de/collective-behaviour/; SFB 969, https://sfb969.de/) and our Graduate Schools (IMPRS Organismal Biology, https://www.orn.mpg.de/2453/Short_portrait; Chemical Biology, https://www.chembiol.uni-konstanz.de/; Biological Sciences, https://www.biologie.uni-konstanz.de/en/studies/doctoral-degree/gbs/).
Researchers, studying neural mechanisms in fish and with a strong interest and expertise in bridging current knowledge across different model systems (e.g. Drosophila and Vertebrates) and across different disciplines (e.g. Neurobiology and Psychology) are encouraged to apply. The candidate is also expected to have extensive international research experience, as well as experience in designing equipment for studying animal behavior.
The candidate is expected to teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs in biology and to foster our interdisciplinary teaching curriculum. We are looking for early career researchers who have an excellent international publication record and strong commitment to teaching. Recruitment requirements are a university degree and a doctorate or PhD within the last 6 years. In addition, the candidate must have acquired a significant amount of funding for her or his own position for the next five years (e.g. Emmy Noether or Heisenberg).
The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor.
