The research focus of this professorship is to complement the research topics of the Department of Chemistry by new, innovative aspects of Systems Chemical Biology. The professorship should combine synthetic-organic research topics with state-of-the-art Omics approaches for functional investigations in the sense of modern Chemical Biology. Collaboration with related disciplines should further be intensified, and in particular existing collaborations with the Department of Biology be continued and extended. Participation in existing and planned joint research projects is expected. We are looking for a person who will represent the subjects of Chemical Biology and Organic Chemistry in all study courses of the Department of Chemistry.

Requirements are: a completed university degree, a doctoral degree not more than five years ago, a postdoctoral career as well as an excellent publication track record in international scientific journals. This advertisement is aimed at young scientists at the end of their postdoctoral stage resp. with initial experience in managing and financing their own research group.

The appointment to this assistant professorship is coupled with tenure track to a nomination for a W3 professorship. In case of a positive interim evaluation, a nomination for a W3 appointment follows in an appropriately simplified procedure without further advertisement.
