Postdoctoral Position in Linguistics (f/m/d)

Reference Number 2021/005. The Department of Linguistics invites applicants for a 3-year 100% postdoctoral position. The start date is July 1st, 2021 or by agreement. In principle, this position can be divided into two part-time positions.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
The position is available within the project “A cross-linguistic investigation of meaning-driven combinatorial restrictions on clausal embedding”, jointly founded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG). The project investigates the combinatorial and semantic properties of clause-embedding predicates in 14 different languages, collecting novel data, developing cross-linguistically valid hypotheses and quantitatively evaluating these hypotheses based on psycho-linguistic experiments. It will run concurrently in Konstanz (co-PI: Prof. Maribel Romero + 1 Postdoctoral Researcher), in Edinburgh (co-PI: Dr. Wataru Uegaki + 1 Postdoctoral Researcher), and Amsterdam (Co-I: Dr. Floris Roelofsen). - To carry out semantic fieldwork
- To theoretically model semantic phenomena
- To design and conduct experimental studies
- Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in linguistics with a specialization in formal semantics and related areas
- The ideal candidate will have experience in semantic fieldwork and/or in experimental methodology
