Doctoral Position in Computer Science and Robotics
(full-time, E 13 TV-L)
Reference no.: 2024/199. The start date is January 1st, 2025 or by agreement. The position is available initially for three years. In principle, this position can be divided into two part-time positions.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
The successful applicant will join a newly founded research group at the University of Konstanz. In this research group, we study the automatic design of control software for multi-robot systems, for example, through techniques from machine learning, evolutionary computation and reinforcement learning.
The position is available as part of a project funded by the Carl Zeiss Foundation and provides an exciting opportunity for candidates wishing to conduct frontier research on swarm robotics and imitation learning. The research has a strong interdisciplinary focus, at the intersection of machine learning, robotics and collective behavior. The working language is English. Your Responsibilities
- Research in the field of large-scale mobile multi-robot systems and imitation learning
- Problem solving, creative thinking
- Communicating your results by publishing research papers at top-level conferences and journals
- Supervising students who contribute to your work
Your Competencies
- Strong written and oral communications skills in English
- You possess a scientific graduate degree (MSc or equivalent) in Computer Science or Robotics with excellent grades
- Experience in mobile robotics, machine learning, mathematical modeling
- Strong motivation and determination
- Very good team skills
