
Reference No. 2025/118. The Department of Philosophy, Faculty of the Humanities, seeks to fill this position by October 1, 2026.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
The applicant will represent the subject of philosophy in research and teaching and contribute their share to the university’s self-administration. Teaching responsibilities are in the major and minor BA- and MA-programmes in philosophy, and the B.Ed. and M.Ed. programmes for prospective teachers, according to current study and exam rules. The applicant is expected to have a systematic research focus in the philosophy of language and/or the philosophy of mind, and also to be able to teach these subjects in their historical dimensions. Special emphasis will be placed on internationally recognised research contributions. We value experience in winning third party funding. Application requirements are an excellent Ph.D. degree and a Habilitation or comparable contributions to research in philosophy. We expect the candidate to commit to teaching in German and in English.
In all other respects, the hiring requirements for professorships follow from § 47 paragraph 1,2 of the Landeshochschulgesetz.
