Doctoral Position in Macroeconomics

(part-time 50 %, E 13 TV-L)

Reference No.: 2025/053. The starting date is 1st October 2025. The position is available for three years. An extension is possible.

The Chair of Macroeconomics (Professor Dr. Stefan Niemann) at the Department of Economics of the University of Konstanz is inviting applications for a position as a PhD candidate. The initial contract will have a duration of three years (with a possible extension). The successful candidate will also be enrolled in the GSBS doctoral program.

Your Responsibilities

    • Assist in teaching and tutoring at the Chair of International Macroeconomics
    • Conduct research in Macroeconomics
    • Develop and apply quantitative macroeconomic theories and methods
    • Publish in academic journals and present at conferences
    • Collaborate on research projects with academic partners.

Your Competencies

    • Strong written and oral communications skills in English
    • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
    • Interest in research questions addressed by the research group
    • A very good scientific graduate degree in economics or a related field (e.g. mathematics, physics or computer science) is mandatory
