Reference No. 2021/078. The Department of Physics in the Faculty of Sciences, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Science, Research and The Arts Baden Württemberg and the University Council, seeks to fill this position by April 1, 2022.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
We seek to appoint a scientist with international visibility and broad expertise in research who complements the department, e.g. in one of the following research areas: nanomechanics and optomechanics, biophysics and neurophysics, quantum information and hybrid quantum systems. Applicants should have contributed significantly to the progress of one of the above fields and be able to contribute to the following ongoing research activities of the Department of Physics: fluctuations and nonlinearities in classical and quantum matter beyond equilibrium, physical properties of solid-state nanostructures, optics and photonics, photovoltaics, quantum physics and quantum information, soft condensed matter and statistical physics, spintronics and ultrafast phenomena. Participation in ongoing and future collaborative research initiatives of the Department and/or interdisciplinary collaboration within the Faculty of Sciences and the University’s Excellence Strategy are expected. In particular, participation in the collaborative research centre SFB1432 on “Fluctuations and Nonlinearities in Classical and Quantum Matter beyond Equilibrium” is viewed as an advantage. We encourage first-time faculty applicants for this position.
Candidates are expected to teach in our undergraduate and graduate programmes in Physics and to connect to the research activities of our department. We are interested in candidates who have an excellent international publication record and exhibit strong skills in the classroom.
