Reference No. 2024/208. The Department of Philosophy in the Faculty of the Humanities, seeks to fill this position by October 1, 2025.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
The applicant will represent the subject of philosophy in research and teaching and contribute their share to the university’s self-administration. Teaching responsibilities are in the major and minor B.A.- and M.A.-programmes in philosophy, including the B.Ed. and M.Ed.-programmes for prospective teachers, according to current study and exam rules. The other professorships at the Department have a systematical rather than a historical focus. The applicant is expected to have a research focus in at least one period in the history of philosophy as well as a systematic focus that enables cooperation within the Department. Special emphasis will be placed on internationally recognised research contributions. We value experience in securing third party funding. Application requirements are an excellent Ph.D. degree and a Habilitation or comparable contributions to research in philosophy. We expect the candidate to commit to teaching in German and in English.
