
Reference Number 2023/126. The start date is November 1st, 2023 or earlier by agreement. In principle, this position can be divided into two part-time positions.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.
The position is supporting research centred around the Foundations of Machine Learning with a focus towards Reinforcement Learning. This position is supported in equal amounts by the University of Konstanz and the “Zukunftskolleg” which allows for unique academic freedom.
The successful applicant will join newly established research group on Machine Leaning at the University of Konstanz (https://sites.google.com/view/suttert/) and will have the opportunity to collaborate with international researchers and universities. The working language is English.
In the Machine Learning research group at the University of Konstanz, we study the foundations of machine learning and data-driven decision-making problems in uncertain and dynamic environments subject to information and complexity constraints. Our group is equally interested in developing novel theory, as well as practical algorithms and tools. Outstanding people with only a partial match to these topics are encouraged to apply.
