Doctoral Position in RNA Chemical and Synthetic Biology, Hartig Group (f/m/d)

(part-time 65%, E 13 TV-L)

Reference Number 2020/200. The start date is January 1st, 2021 or by agreement. The position is available for three years.

The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence Initiative and its follow-up programme, the Excellence Strategy.

In the Hartig group at the University of Konstanz a PhD position (E 13 TV-L, part-time 65%) is offered. The PhD project is part of the collaborative research center 969 (SFB 969) at the University of Konstanz and is concerned with the development of synthetic RNA switches for controlling gene expression in eukaryotic model organisms. RNA motifs such as aptamers and ribozymes can be combined and introduced into mRNAs in order to control its gene expression. The project is located in the field of synthetic biology where RNA motifs can be combined in a Lego-like fashion in order to engineer plug-and-play designer switches of gene expression.
