Doctoral Position in RNA Chemical and Synthetic Biology, Hartig Group (f/m/d)

(part-time 65%, E 13 TV-L)

In the Hartig group at the University of Konstanz a PhD position (E 13 TV-L, part-time 65%) is offered. The PhD project is part of the collaborative research center 969 (SFB 969) at the University of Konstanz and is concerned with the development of synthetic RNA switches for controlling gene expression in eukaryotic model organisms. RNA motifs such as aptamers and ribozymes can be combined and introduced into mRNAs in order to control its gene expression. The project is located in the field of synthetic biology where RNA motifs can be combined in a Lego-like fashion in order to engineer plug-and-play designer switches of gene expression.

Your Competencies

  • You possess a graduate degree (MSc or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biology, or in the Life Sciences
  • Experience in molecular biology and/or biochemistry techniques
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
